ABOUT MIA

Mia Moran-Lindauer was born in Manhattan, New York on June 6, 2000. After 9/11, Mia moved to the U.S./Mexico border near her family, where she was raised and currently resides. MIA had a Catholic and Jewish upbringing, and though not a religious person, the experience influenced her artistic practice in terms of histories, fables, stories, and iconographies. She is a multi-disciplinary artist pursuing an art major and a communication minor at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas. She has also actively studied and taken courses in creative writing. A common link between her writing and visual art is narrative; at times she makes art about the characters she writes about and their stories. In her most recent visual work, she paints with acrylics, uses collage materials, and mixes media on canvas. The focus of the work is spirit animals which conjure up themes of spirituality, personal identity, and growth. The mixed media collages include backgrounds using recycled papers, and accents include rhinestones and other shiny plastics. mia works in graphic design, illustration, photography, comic writing, and storytelling. She aspires to make a living as a professional writer to support her visual art practice one day. In her downtime, she enjoys watching all film genres and attending live musical theater on Broadway and at small-scale community productions. mia is also an avid reader, enjoys fanfiction, and critiques other people’s writing and art online by providing feedback that inspires other artists to keep at it.
